The one thing that I would add is that, if 200% was to get involved with this, it would need to be agreed with everybody that writes for the site, so we would have discuss that matter before making anything like a final decision.

I was hoping to hear from everyone else over the weekend but I guess this is the point we all get stuck at in terms of what to do next.
I think we can all agree that the following points should be the cornerstone to anything we aim to do:
1. Site independence + intellectual property protection - that is, you don't need to 'merge' your site with anyone else's, nor is anyone going to steal your content.
2. A single, powerful voice / multiple influential voices speaking from a single platform. I strongly believe that a lot of football blogs suffer from a lack of amplification when it comes to getting the word out, whether it's about a great interview or about some site stealing their content.
3. Everyone contributes to give value first, gain from the community second. It doesn't work if some people are contributing and the rest are just passing through or 'taking'. Everyone has to deliver value, in their own way. More of a personal decision than anything mandatory though.
With the above in mind, I don't think you need a new site, or a support group. What you do need is to identify, individually, what you'd like most to get out of the community and then people around you can figure out how they can help you get that.
For example, 2ndYellow talks about moral support and pooling together resources. I think that's brilliant - anyone with knowledge of online marketing can definitely help others in getting more traffic to their sites. And I think the more we share ideas and discuss, the better it gets in terms of 'moral support', be it here, over email, on twitter or anywhere.
I've talked about Football Media before so I'll only say that I can (and always have) guarantee that if anyone else posts about a specific problem they're having (be it finding new topics to write about, motivation, traffic, revenues, site design, abuse from the internet idiots, dealing with plagiarism, etc etc), I'll be happy to discuss, advise and provide help where possible.
And it doesn't have to be here, it can be through email or twitter as well.
Also, one last thing - I don't think formal agreements at such an early stage work when people are still trying to get a feel for what works and what doesn't, so Ian, I don't think there's anything your writers need to agree upon except maybe contributing to this thread and sharing what they're doing and wish they could do better?
Same applies to everyone else.

I'm unsure as to what exactly is being proposed here...

Hello,
Pretty late to this party...
This board seems a good place to have a moral network. I was under the impression that that was the intention when it was started. It's a place where advice can be sought/shared etc.
The rest I have no clear opinions on yet
